An Easy Guide to Building Links to your Website

Link Building is vital for a good placement in any search engine and most website owners are unaware of this or don't really understand how it actually works.

Apart from good Keyword research and the right meta tags, linking building is an absolutely must for the success of any website and is an on going process, so make sure your put some time aside for this on a weekly basis or pay some one with experience to do it for you.

Without it your website will certainly get no traffic.

There are 4 different types of Linking involved and each one is as important as the other.

If they are done correctly, they most certainly will give you a good ranking in the search engines.

They are :

Reciprocal Links
Oneway Links
MultiSite Links
Directory Listings
Reciprocal Linking

Quite simply - this is a link from your site to another and they link back to you. A bit of advise here is to only link to sites that are relevant to yours. i.e - If you are selling Cars - only link to Car websites, a link to a Health website will really do you no justice, and trust me I have seen hundreds of website owners make this mistake.

What's important here is not number of the links you have, but the quality and relevancy of the site your are linking back to. Be Selective and also take a good look at the sites linking to the site you want to link. It's really no good if this Car Site you want to link to has 40 reciprocal Links from Online Pharmacies.

How to Do this :

1. Pay a SEO Company to do it for you. ( recommended - but can be quite expensive )

2. Buy Them

3. Link Exchange Sites.

4. Search for them on your own

Important : Do not add to many reciprocal links to quickly, build it up gradually otherwise you will be penalised by the search engines, as it will be seen as un-natural. A good way to start is not more than 10 to 20 in one month. As your site gets older you can start adding more.

One Way Links

This is what the search engines call a natural link, and these links are given a far better ranking than a reciprocal link. The easiest way to do this is to write articles on what you are selling and then submit them to article directories with a link back to your website.

Website owners are always looking for content for their sites, and Article Directories are the easiest way for them to get content, with out them having to write them on their own. There are hundreds of these directories around and the more you submit to the quicker you will build up your one way links. It also is less time consuming than reciprocal linking and you will get far better results.

MultiSite Links

For this to be effective you need at least 3 to 4 websites to be involved in this. It is also seen as a natural link by the search engines and can be quite difficult to do if you only have one website. Although it can be done. You will just need to find 3 other websites that are interested.

How it works is this :

You link to site B, Site B links to site C, Site C links to site D and site D links back to you. This way all the sites get a link with out any of them creating a reciprocal link.

Directory Listings

This is also seen as a natural link as most directories don't require a link back. It's very simple and all you need to do is submit your site to as many directories as possible. There are thousand's of them on the Internet, so all it requires is a little bit of time and hard work. If you make it your goal to submit to one a day, the process won't become a tiresome.

Good Luck.

Leading Search Engine Optimization Company Developing Monopoly From SEO Package

Just released a whole new search engine optimization package any serious business owner will be able to employ. Only 50 packages will be released to businesses looking for better search engine rankings. The "proof is in the pudding" as the numbers are showing for this search engine optimization company as well as there clients, any web site being optimized is finding not only better rankings, but write ups by the news and media.

Across the board larger companies are battling for search engine optimization services. They are looking to improve search engine rankings and simply be number one for their industry. We all know the story, "I want to be number and I want better search engine rankings!"

Let us take it a step further, sure a professional search engine optimization company will improve search engine rankings for your web site, but what if you were to not only be number one in the rankings. You were actually creating a monopoly on the search engine results pages. This means within the top 10 results, you actually have some connection to the other top 10 pages listed. So no matter where a prospect looks, they will some way or another visit your site. This hit will be from a promotion on the other sites or a simple great press release about a new product or service. There are only 10 spots on the search engine results pages, imagine if your were receiving traffic from the top 5 listings.

This tested and search engine optimization service to improve search engine rankings is being released finally. Although, there are just about 50 spots from the time of this writing, a professional search engine optimization company is including it's SEO (search engine optimization) services with Monopolizing Marketing  technology. This package is very resource intensive, so the packages are limited.

"Proof Is In The Pudding in Search Engine Optimization Services. It's all about the ROI"

From different case studies, all clients are seeing an increase in revenue or acquisitions by search engine optimization services that are specifically built to improve search engine rankings. From write up's by the pharmacy times, assisting companies who are going public, lawyers generating 2 million dollar cases in Florida, the "proof is in the pudding". "The better search engine rankings a business has, the more inclined to bring more sales or acquisitions, hands down.."

Although many search engine optimization companies claim to improve search engine ranking, they may or may not be building you a complete campaign. The shear amount of work into professional search engine optimization services alone is difficult, but does your SEO company include web analytics, the information to continuously improve your site and conversion rates. While most focus on key words, the better search engine optimization companies focus on key words that have high conversion rates. This is done through analytics and viewing the "sales funnel". Discovering where prospects are leaving and why they are leaving.

A launch of only 50 packages will be released due to immense amount of resources managing this type of search engine optimization. While your web site will see better search engine rankings over some time, search engine optimization services are not for all businesses. The package is extensive, timely, and may not be in budget of most new businesses. There are two packages available, one for new businesses who do not have a web site this is called the SEO Start-Up Success Package and another package for businesses who have a web site already developed who are looking search engine optimization services, a-la-carte. These serious business owners will want the SEO Professional Package.

Whether you are ready to invest in search engine optimization or learn about search engine optimization, we have developed systems to help. If you are ready to invest look into SEO Services, if you are more of a do it yourself or the packages do not fit your budget yet, you may be interested in how to improve search engine rankings using Monopolizing Marketing , a resource to help business owners implement SEO into their business. Either way the system is in place and working, you will just need to choose.

Kick Start Your Sales With Organic Seo Services

Millions of dollars are spent annually by companies whose online marketing strategy includes reaching out to attract new customers via e-mail shots, rich media advertising, pay-per-click and even old-fashioned banner advertising. But there is another class of marketer who is spending significantly less by focusing on letting their prospects reach out to them instead.

These are the companies that understand the secret of how business is really being conducted on the web these days, and that secret is: Search Engines.

Recent studies show that 85% of Internet users depend upon search engines to help them locate web sites selling the products or services that they are looking for. Companies who have built their web pages using search engine optimization best practices are finding that search engine-driven visitors are more likely to convert to paying customers than any other type of prospect.

Yes, search engine optimization is a hot topic these days, but not every online marketing agency understands how it works. There are far too many supposed "SEO Experts" who think that they can fool Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL and other big search engines into giving their clients the coveted "Top 10" ranking by using what Google calls "Black Arts". While doing search optimization wrong might result in a temporary pop in rank, most sites get banned from the search engines altogether once they get caught.

That's why businesses need to rely upon experts that practice what is called natural search engine optimization services. The term "natural" refers to a process where each web page is legally optimized to the particular search engine that the online marketing agency is targeting.

One of the best ways to optimize a page is to include content containing key words that are relevant to the products or services being offered.

For example, if the goal is get a top rating for an Arizona SEO Company that offers natural search engine optimization services, they might craft some content that read like this:

Our Arizona SEO Company offers natural search engine optimization services to businesses Arizona and around the world! Click the SEO Services link to find out why we're the #1 Phoenix Optimization Firm and the #1 Scottsdale Marketing Company according to a new survey conducted among e-tailers who were seeking an Arizona SEO Company!

It takes more than just good key words to get the job done, but copy like the example above is a great place to start.

The Future On SEO For Bloggers!

You write a blog religiously every day or so. You provide informative, interesting content for your loyal readers. You've even got a couple of affiliate links in there, too. But is this enough to get great search engine results for your efforts?

Probably not. Sure, you'll get listed with the search engines easily. But without a top twenty listing at one of the majors (Google, Yahoo! or MSN), you won't have traffic, literally, banging down your door.

In order to get better search engine results you need to make sure you are using the right keywords (and know how to use them), have links pointed your way and regularly check the results of your hard work. Here's how.

Choosing Appropriate Keywords

Do you know what search terms your visitors are using to find you? Most blogging sites give you the option of checking up to see just how people found you. If you don't have this feature available, hop over to http://www.statcounter.com/ and install their free service on your blog immediately.

Next, research those keywords. Visit Overture's free site (http://inventory.overture.com/) and type in the most generic of the terms people are using to find your blog. You'll get a list of related keywords used at a major search engine in the past month. Although it is an oversimplification of the search engine optimization process, try and stick to the more unusual but natural-sounding keywords as your top picks.

Putting Keywords in the Right Places

Once you've picked a keyword that applies directly to your blog, make sure to incorporate it into the following portions of one complete blog posting:

# The title;
# The first sentence;
# Each header (if you have any);
# Once a paragraph; and
# The last sentence.

If you have any links to outside sources, use the same keyword as your link text where possible. Also, for each blog posting, try and pick a different (but related) keyword to use. Feel free to reuse keywords every 30-45 postings.

Your third step is to take these keyword optimized blog postings and post them to the article and blog directories. Most of the search engines determine the relevancy of your blog by how many outside websites link directly to you; therefore, posting your blog entries (with a link back to your site in your resource blurb) is an easy and straightforward way of doing so.

Checking Your Progress

It may take a couple of days to see any results, so try and wait a week before you take a look at StatCounter. Have your hits increased at all? Are there any new search engine referrals?

To track your blog's ascent up the search engine rankings for any given keyword, try Digital Point's free Keyword Tracker Tool (http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/). It is an excellent way of ensuring your blog positioning efforts are paying off.

With all blog postings, content is key. Without useful, interesting information that cannot be found elsewhere, your visitors won't come back for more. Incorporate these simple search engine optimization techniques into your blogging practice however, and you'll both keep the visitors you already have and dramatically increase your readership through high ranking search engine placement in no time.

Interested In Increasing Your Search Engine Ranking?

At least 85% of people looking for goods and services on the Internet find websites through search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. The idea of optimizing your pages for high search engine rankings is to attract targeted customers to your site who will be more than likely to make a purchase. The higher your page comes up in search engine results, the greater the traffic that is directed to your website. That's what search engine optimization is about.

You can immerse yourself in all the technical information available online to figure out how to optimize your web pages to achieve higher rankings. Or you can look at a few simple items on your pages, make some small adjustments, and most likely see improved rankings quite rapidly. The first item you should examine is the title bar on your homepage.

The title bar is the coloured bar at the top of the page. Look at the words that appear there when you access your home page. To increase search engine rankings, the words on your homepage's title bar should include the most important keywords or phrases, one of which would include your company name.

Then click on all your links and examine the title bars on the pages you access. Each title bar on every single page of your site should contain the most important keywords and phrases taken from the page itself. However, avoid very long strings of keywords, keeping them to six words or less. Avoid repeating keywords more than once in the title bars, and make sure that identical words are not next to each other.

The next item to put under your microscope is your website content. Search engines generally list sites that contain quality content rather than scintillating graphics. The text on your site must contain the most important keywords - the words that potential customers will be typing into search engines to find your site.

Aim to have around 250 words on each page, but if this is not desirable due to your design, aim for at least 100 carefully chosen words. If you want to achieve a high ranking on search engines, this text is essential. However, the search engines must be able to read the text, meaning that the text must be in HTML and not graphic format.

To find out if your text is in HTML format, take your cursor and try to highlight a word or two. If you are able to do this, the text is HTML. If the text will not highlight, it is probably in graphic form. In this case, ask your webmaster to change the text into HTML format in order to increase your search engine rankings.

Next we come to what is called meta tags. I know this sounds like something out of science fiction, but it is really just simple code. Many people believe that meta tags are the key to high search engine rankings, but in reality, they only have a limited effect. Still, it's worth adding them in the event that a search engine will use meta tags in their ranking formula.

To find out if your page is set up with meta tags, you must access the code. To do this, click the "view" button on the browser menu bar, and select "source." This will pull up a window revealing the underlying code that created the page. If there are meta tags, they usually appear near the top of the window.

For example, a meta tag would read: <b>meta name="keywords" content=. </b>
If you do not find code that reads like this, ask your webmaster to put them in. This may not do much for your search engine rankings, but any little boost helps.

Lastly, we come to the issue of link popularity. This is a factor that is extremely important in terms of search engine rankings. Almost all search engines use link popularity to rank your website. Link popularity is based on the quality of the sites you have linked to from your links page.

If you type in "free link popularity check" in a popular search engine, the search engine will then show you what sites are linked to your site. In the case that there aren't many sites linked up to yours, or that the sites that are linked up have low search engine rankings, consider launching a link popularity campaign. Essentially, this entails contacting quality sites and requesting that they exchange links with your site. Of course, this requires checking out the rankings of the websites you want to link up with. Linking to popular, quality sites not only boosts your search engine ranking, but it also directs more quality traffic to your website.

Search engine rankings are extremely important for a successful Internet marketing campaign. Before you go out and hire a search engine optimization company, try taking some of the simple steps listed above, and see if you can't boost your rankings yourself. Don't ever ignore this all-important factor in Internet marketing. Remember, the higher your search engine ranking, the more quality customers will be directed your way.

Affordable Search Engine Optimization Within Reach

A few years back businesses were throwing 20-30k a month on search engine optimization; at least the bigger businesses were. The small business was hard pressed to find search engine optimization for much less that actually worked.

As of today the landscape of search engine optimization has changed. Many of the once coveted secrets of seo are now common knowledge. More and more people know how to do search engine optimization and since supply increased the prices have dropped.

Another factor is that alot of the grunt work of seo that would have increased costs has been diminished via outsourcing to India and other countries who can now do this mind numbing work for much less thereby allowing seo firms to lower their costs even more.

As an seo with around 7 years of experience I find that most of my time these days is spent in research. Google is pretty good at keeping us all on our toes with each update they make to their search engine algorithm. Scouring forums, chatting with colleagues and investing time in experimentation seems to fill many of my days lately.

Having relegated much of my own firm's grunt work to freelancers I am able to provide more and more value to my own clients for less dollars. In fact I find that my clients keep getting smarter and smarter and more confident about doing their own seo that I many times simply play the role of a consultant or seo coach.

As a consumer though I advise that people still be very careful about what they purchase even if it is cheap. Money is money and after all you still want results. The old rules apply here when searching for affordable search engine optimization and are as follows...

Get case studies from any prospective seo you might hire
Get testimonials
Check references

Look for a proven track record and at least 3 years of online history in the industry
Always make sure they have a money back guarantee

Try dealing with a local firm based in the U.S. whether or not they use outsourcing is no matter as long as the actual company itself has a U.S. base. The reason being is that if something goes wrong it's very difficult legally if you were dealing with a company based somewhere like Bulgaria.

Honestly a lot of seo really isn't that hard but it does require an attentive eye and a lot of patience. There are tried and true strategies to achieve top rankings but they don't happen over night.

We actually just created a mentoring package for folks who just want to do it themselves and save money and do it the right way. It seems to be working well and I encourage those who are not happy with their current website traffic or search engine rankings to consider such a program as a viable alternative.

11 Rules of a Copywriter

The art of the copywriting is one of the most intricate arts in the world.  As in every profession there are some indispensable rules that every copywriter should stick to in order to impress his reader and produce appealing content  What are these well-known yet so often forgotten rules that every copywriter should follow?!  One should be as much precise and straightforward as possible in the writing of your text. Your text should have coherent and logical style. There should be some definite order in which all your message is written. Moreover, you should always visualise your audience in front of you and stress the most important points of your message.

In writing of the advertisement try to answer several important questions before you start devise and design the structure of your web site.

Make it easy to read. You message must have just one important point. It is not advisable to include several points in your message. Despite the fact that this is an advertisement and some exaggerations are possible and some specialists even encourage them, your message must not contain outward lies.  If the reader suspects that you are lying he will not be inclined to take your words and might even doubt the credibility of the whole company you are working for. The message must be written in simple, easy to read and understandable style. Do not patronise and try to have honest and equal dialogue with your customer. Do not be very technical in the writing of your message. However, it might be advisable to include some technical terms in your advertisement, otherwise write it in more general terms, as your message might be read by the person who is not familiar with technical details.

Check your text on grammar and spelling mistakes before you are placing your message on the web site or submit it to the advertisement. Do not use too many words; try to be as succinct as possible. Your message should be memorable. Talk directly to the reader of your advertisement. Try to use such words as "you", "your" as much as possible, as the advertisement that communicates directly with your customer is more appealing.

Seo And Why Some Customers Stay Away In Droves

It's two in the morning. Your family has all been in bed for a few hours. This isn't the first night you've been up late. You're devouring articles, perusing forums, reading blogs and scanning ebooks.

The subject of choice is Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Your monitor blinks in the early morning hours of a new day   one you greeted while everyone else slept. Someone half a world away sends an instant message answering yet another question you consider dumb.

Your online business has only been marginal in performance and your goals for your business have fallen short of expectations. In your sleep-deprived state you feel like either giving up or perhaps volunteering to be the poster child for problem online businesses.

You believe your business is solid in its plan and that the products you sell are quality and desirable, yet somehow you keep returning to the feeling of potential failure as you wonder why you just can't seem to break that elusive barrier that opens up new opportunities for success.

When you developed your business you were careful to plan your website and worked to infuse creativity in the graphic design of the website. By everyone's admission yours is an attractive site, yet the 'Internet connected' stay away in droves.

The truth is they aren't staying away in droves they may simply be unaware that you exist. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) remains one of the single most important steps that an online business can take and yet it is also one of the single most commonly ignored steps.

SEO encompasses a variety of disciplines, but each is designed to get the attention of search engines. The reason this is important is that without the free assistance of search engines very few individuals will ever find your website without a personal invitation.

Without using SEO you are left with few options for drawing potential customers. Arguably the top two are email marketing and Pay Per Click (PPC)/Banner advertising.

Either of these methods can help, but they also are a drain on your available finances. SEO works to laser focus your message through the use of keyword or phrase search terms that can help set your site apart and improve your site ranking.

Most Internet users will conduct multiple online searches when they use the computer. Many consumers will begin with a search to find a product they desire. If your wonderfully creative site is not listed in the first few pages in a search engine chances are pretty strong that the consumer (who may have happily spent their money with your online store) will simply choose a different site.

So, you sit in the dark and read just one more article on SEO and you begin to understand that you can produce content and descriptions that are uniform in purpose and phrasing, assisting you in catching the attention of search engines.

You will sleep soon, but for a moment you close your glazed eyes and imagine the possibilities of purpose in your online store and you have some idea on how to finally achieve the goals that have been elusive for far too long.

Instant traffic is the way to make sales , article marketing is the way to instant traffic

One way of promoting your website and product can be achieved for free. As an additional bonus, this "free" method can boost your sites and sales, doubling and even tripling your income.

Articles. One of the easiest ways to promote your website in order to generate traffic and increase your earnings.

How does this work?

Write articles relating to your website and submit them to "free content" submission sites. Easy to do, takes little time and can increase your website traffic, sales and of course, your income.

How can article writing boost traffic and income?

The article on the free content site contains a link to your own website. Readers, after reading your articles, may choose to click on the link and pay you an unexpected visit. Having them on the free content sites is also making these articles available to other webmasters who may wish to publish that article on their site.

If they do, your article will include a link back to your site. And anyone who reads the article on that site can still click on the link to visit your site.

As the list of your published articles grow larger, and more and more of them are appearing on different websites, the total number of links to your site increases also. Major search engines are placing a lot of significance on incoming links to websites so they can determine the importance of a certain site.

The more incoming links the website has, the more importance search engines attaches to it. This will then increase your website's placement in the search results.

If you site is into promoting a product or service, the links that your articles have achieved will mean more potential customers for you. Even if visitors only browse through, you never know if they might be in need of what you are offering in the future.

There are also those who already have specific things they need on their mind but cannot decide yet between the many choices online. Chances are, they may stumble upon one of your articles, get interested by the contents you wrote, go to your site and became enticed by your promotions. See how easy that is?

Search engines do not just index the websites, they also index published articles. They also index any article that is written about your own website's topic. So once someone searches for that same topic, the list of results will have your site or may even show the articles that you have written.

And to think, no effort on your part was used to bring them to your site. Just your published articles and the search engines.

It is no wonder why many webmasters are suddenly reviving their old writing styles and taking time to write more articles about their site than doing other means of promotion.

Getting their site known is easier if they have articles increasing their links and traffic and making it accessible for visitors searching the internet. Since many people are now taking their buying needs online, having your site on the search engines through your articles is one way of letting them know about you and your business.

The good thing with articles is that you can write about things that people would want to know about. This can be achieved in the lightest mood but professional manner, with a little not-so-obvious sales pitch added.

If you think about it, only a few minutes of your time is spent on writing one article and submitting to free content site. In the shortest span of time also, those are distributed to more sites than you can think of. Even before you know what is happening, you are getting more visitors than you previously had.

If you think you are wasting your time writing these articles, fast forward to the time when you will see them printed and wide-spread on the internet. Not to mention the sudden attention and interest that people are giving your website and your products or services.

Try writing some articles and you will be assured of the sudden surge in site traffic, link popularity and interest. Before you know it, you will be doubling and even tripling your earnings.

Nothing like getting benefits for something you got for free.

Why Outsource To An SEO Consultant?

Why would it be a good idea to outsource to an SEO consultant? A skilled web designer can create an unforgettable page that can serve every need that you can dream of. However web designers may not necessarily have any skill with SEO. An SEO consultant will know how to get your page seen and seen often. Let's cover a few reasons why you may consider doing this.

One is that an SEO consultant devotes all of their energies and resources into learning their craft. Their skills are specifically used for website rankings. They can work with your design team from the ground up to make sure that your website not only makes maximum use of SEO techniques but also to save you time and therefore money in the long run by making sure it is done right the first time. This by itself will save you not only time but costly redesigning later.

Another reason is that you ant your web design team to focus their energies on designing the site. By bringing an SEO consultant in you can have two specialists concentrate on what they know how to do best. An SEO consultant is going to take their bag of tricks and essentially arm your website and engage in a battle of wits with the search engines and their ranking algorithms.

The web designer only needs to worry about overcoming technical problems. They focus on first making the site work and then making it work well. They will make site not only work for you but also to get it to work beyond what you originally needed it for.

The SEO consultant must continually improve their skills because they are not just getting your site ranked well today but continually get it ranked well. You need both of these specialists to work for you. Together they can give you what your need and more.

In A Town Called Google The Keyword Is Real Estate

The late Conrad Hilton who built a chain of hotels across the world, was firmly of the belief that if he built a hotel in the right location it would make money. "Location, Location, Location" was his motto. Never build a hotel where there ain't no traffic.

The same rule applies on the Internet. Build your site in the right location and it will succeed.

So the question is: "how do I find the right plot of Internet real estate on which to build my site?"

For the purposes of this exercise I would like you to imagine a smart seaside town called Google.

Along the sea front and around the marina, where the luxury yachts are parked, are smart hotels, casinos and apartment blocks. At street level in each of these buildings there are international shops like Tiffany, Gucci and Prada selling luxury goods.

In the next block back from the front are really nice houses owned by wealthy citizens. And behind them are not-quite-so-nice houses and apartments. So it goes, as you walk away from the sea front the houses and shops become less and less expensive. Until, just on the outskirts of the town of Google, there is a trailer park where the least wealthy citizens stay.

In the town of Google it costs a lot of money to rent one of the shops on the seafront because they are seen by large numbers of passers-by. These will be both the wealthy people staying in the town and day-trippers who are just sight-seeing. However, you can rent a shop in the trailer park for much less money. Here you will still get valuable passing traffic but the competition will not be nearly so great.

The mistake that most people make when they build their web sites is to build around keywords which all the powerful multi-nationals are using for their seafront stores. These organizations are spending mega bucks to get their web sites to the top positions on the search engines. Your chances of competing with them and achieving a top search engine ranking are very slim.

Much better to build your web site around the 'trailer park' keywords. Where you can still get masses of <a valuable traffic, but you're not competing with the mega-buck budgets of the multi-national corporations.

Natural Search Engine Results and Website Consulting

You scroll down past the banner ads and enter your search term. You pass the "sponsored results" without a glance. You ignore the shaded results to the right, as well as the additional "sponsored results" at bottom. Hiding somewhere in the middle of it all, you finally find the results you came for.

Welcome to the world of natural search- a world where mom-and-pop shops compete with million dollar companies, where million dollar companies compete with billion dollar corporations. And, while many will argue to the contrary, the playing field is more or less level. Small companies can and do dominate their behemoth competitors in this world, for a variety of reasons.

What Is Natural Search?

For those who aren't quite clear what the term means, "natural" or "organic" search describes the "editorial" search results on any particular engine. These results are purported to be completely non-biased - meaning that the engine will not accept any amount of money to influence the rankings of any individual sites. This is quite different than the paid advertising that appears in "sponsored" or "featured" results, in which higher positions are rewarded to the companies willing to pay the most per visitor.

Why Is Natural Search Important?

Savvy searchers who understand the difference between paid and natural results are more likely to hold the natural results in a higher regard, much like a person reading a magazine would probably be more positively influenced by an article about a particular company than by a paid advertisement from the company.

It is also likely that natural search will become more important in the coming months. Yahoo's new Site Match program, which mixes some paid results with natural results, is certain to get some close scrutiny from the FTC (even though the fees paid are not supposed to influence rankings). This type of public attention will no doubt educate some oblivious users as to what "sponsored results" actually are. More importantly, other search engines are likely to use this as a means of differentiation from Yahoo. It is no coincidence that Ask Jeeves announced that it was getting rid of its similar program the day after Yahoo's new program was unveiled, claiming that it was impossible to produce unbiased results using this methodology. Microsoft also recently claimed that they were taking steps to further differentiate paid results from natural results. No matter what the end result, one probable outcome of this new attention to paid search engine advertising is that more average searchers will learn the differences between paid and natural search results, and many will instinctively favor the latter.

What Advantages Do Huge Corporations Have?

Certainly, large companies do have some specific advantages when it comes to natural search.
a. Links- the primary advantage that large corporations have is their ability to obtain large amounts of inbound links, which can have a huge impact on search engine rankings. Often these links are given freely without the company asking (or being aware that it is happening). Many of the huge corporation's vendors, affiliates, partners, etc. are eager to show their association with the company and link to the corporate site readily and non-reciprocally. Large corporations can also facilitate huge increases in link popularity through a simple corporate policy requiring inbound links from any companies wishing to work with them. In addition, very large corporations may have several websites, which can sometimes be effectively linked together for additional link popularity.

b. Budget- although history shows that a large percentage of major corporations do not spend wisely in this arena, larger corporations typically have larger marketing budgets then their smaller competitors. However, this does not necessarily mean that they will readily allocate a portion of that budget for search engine optimization, as discussed below.

What Advantages Do Smaller Companies Have?

While the advantages of huge corporations, particularly in the area of link popularity, can be difficult to overcome, it is often unnecessary to try. A large percentage of such companies consistently seem to shoot themselves in the foot when it comes to natural search engine optimization, a primary reason why small companies can often outperform them. Specific advantages include:

a. A willingness to pursue the channel- Smaller companies are typically more willing to devote resources to natural search than large corporations. Huge things have to happen for a major corporation to get involved in this "new" channel, a channel far removed from the traditional marketing methodologies used to build the giant. Few corporate underlings want to be the one to put their neck on the line and recommend something completely new and "unproven". Even when a large corporation looks into natural search engine optimization as a potential marketing tool, it can take many months, and sometimes years, for a final decision to be made.
b. A willingness to change the company website- Huge corporations face similar problems when it comes to changing to the corporate website. Within such entities, a person can often not get so much as a comma removed from the text of a secondary page without holding several upper-level management meetings and, ultimately, making a board presentation. Smaller, leaner companies are able to approve necessary website changes more quickly, and are almost always more willing to quickly adapt to the needs of both visitors and search engines.

c. The willingness to outsource- Larger companies have more internal resources at their disposal, and are less likely to outsource this specialized service to someone with proven experience. Often, search engine optimization is treated as an afterthought and dumped on an IT person, who typically has too much to do already and will approach the problem solely from a technical standpoint. Natural search engine optimization is by necessity a combination of marketing and technology. Newcomers to the field (especially those who treat the discipline as strictly a technical issue) often make fundamental mistakes that at best do not get results and at worst put sites at risk of penalization.

d. A lack of technical hurdles- Huge corporations are more likely to have technical issues on their website that can prevent search engines from indexing all of their pages. Often the pages of corporate websites are generated "on the fly" from large databases, and such pages (without modification to the URLs) are sometimes never indexed. In addition, (although usability studies are making this happen less often), some huge corporations have their sites built entirely in flash or use other technologies that are virtually invisible to search engines.

The Bottom Line

To most huge corporations, search engine optimization is often a very small piece of an enormous puzzle - and it is a piece they have been doing without for years. The necessary steps required to fully embrace the channel are often enough to stop any well-intentioned initiative in its tracks. As most search engine optimization experts will tell you, some of the most egregious search engine mistakes are consistently made by household name companies - leaving their smaller, leaner competitors the opportunity to take full advantage.

SEO As A Destination

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a phrase that can appear to be a catchall. It seems these words are floated around whenever anyone talks about marketing on the Internet. It can even become easy to simply think of the term in context of something we don't understand so we ignore it. However, to ignore SEO is to invite a slow death to your online business.

Search Engine Optimization is the goal, not the specific process. Essentially what it means is that that you must use a variety of marketing tools to achieve Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Too many people think of SEO as a tool, but if it is where are those who know how to use it that way? I realize I may be arguing semantics, but optimization can only take place as you rely on other tools in your marketing tool belt.

Imagine SEO as a town and marketing as your car. There are multiple components that make it possible for you to drive your car  that is the combined marketing needed to move your business 'car' from a place called Idea to another called SEO.

There are many businesses that like the place called Idea and never seem to understand that they need to take their idea and transport it to a place where others can see it.

I am always surprised to see individuals who develop sites with no idea of the end goal. The misperception is that the end goal is website development not SEO.

The hope seems to be that if the website is on display that will be enough for customers to find the owners idea and buy into it. The truth, sad as it may be, is that you misplaced your goal.

Your goal should be to take your business and make it as well known as possible so that people will want to come to your site. You do this when you optimize your site for search engines.

Why does it matter?

If search engines do not detect your site as well developed (by their standards) you will not find your site ranked very well. Since most consumers arrive at sites as a result of an online search it makes sense to work to improve your marketability though optimization.

How do I do that?

You optimize your site by making sure your site design is infused with keyword rich content. What that means is that you choose a word or series of words that help identify what your site does. Then you make sure those words are used frequently and tastefully throughout your site. Search engines look for those common phrases and will improve your ranking based on the collective use of the targeted phrase.

From that point you work on ancillary strategies like backlinks and other traffic building events that continue to improve your visibility by search engines.

The truth is without SEO as your ultimate goal you will never fully realize the potential in your dream of online business. Keep working to uncover as many facets in SEO as possible and then make that your goal. Your dream will grow large when you shift your focus from SEO as a tool to that of important destination.

How to explode traffic to your website for free

You know, almost everybody nowadays owns a website. But what good is it when NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY, knows about it?. You could tell your friends and family about it and surely they will pay it a visit, but that will basically be all.

What you want is traffic, thousands of it per day. Maybe you have some affiliate links on your site and hope to make a few bucks off it. Or maybe you got a blog and want loads of people to join in your discussion.

One option is to pay an advertising company a few hundred dollars to do the job, or you can join Adwords from Google Inc to help you out, but this all cost money. What I am about to reveal to you, will cost you absolutely nothing at all. It will only cost you your time and effort.

Ask yourself the following question. DO I REALLY, REALLY WANT TRAFFIC?. If your answer is YES my friend, you need to build backlinks to your website or blog. And not just backlinks. ONEWAY BACKLINKS. The search-engines will love you for it.

Why is it so important to have backlinks?

You see, when the search engine spiders crawl these websites, they will most definitely  find your link and crawl your site. So every website on which the search engine spider finds your link, it will basically be forced to crawl your site as the link on those sites points the spiders in your direction. Those backlinks are actually votes for your site from the other sites and in no time you will see that you are starting to get more traffic to your site.

The higher the pagerank of a site, the better it will be for your website. Some people reason that you should not submit your site to websites with a low or zero pagerank. That's kinda funny, cause did'nt we all start at pagerank zero? The site with your backlink on it might be PR 0 today, but what about next week, next month, or next year? Then you'll feel sorry for yourself, because then they might not even accept links anymore, cause their PR0 went up to PR7!!

So what can you do to get these free backlinks? You just have to write one article about any topic you are good at. Then join as much as possible Article Directories and submit your article there. Really, it's free to join them. There's literally thousands of these directories on the net. Some will accept your article, while others might decline it. But the bottom line is, those who accept it, is giving you valuable backlinks to your website, which automatically creates free traffic.

My friend, act now ! It's never too late. Just google around for free submission directories. You will find thousands of them.

Tea websites or loan websites it doesn't matter - any type of website can benefit from paid SEO

A Search Engine Optimization firm can be an invaluable asset in your Internet marketing campaign. They specialize in knowing how to highten your search engine positions, monitoring those positions on the regular basis, and adjusting their strategies to account for unwanted results in any given month. Since this takes a lot of effort, time, and specialized knowledge, it can be in your best interest to go to an outside source rather than try to maintain high search engine positions on your own.

However, like every business, there are good companies and there are lemons. Knowing the right questions to ask and the criteria to look for will help you in choosing an affordable, effective search engine optimization company.

When looking at different companies, begin by considering the approach they employ to raise your search engine positions. Steer clear of companies that use cloaked, doorway, or bridge pages to raise your positions. These techniques violate most search engine policy, and in the worst case scenario, will only get your website severely penalized, if not removed entirely from a search engine's index.

No matter what kind of website you run it is vital that you are not of the opinion that only certain topics would benefit from paid optimization. A website about Tea might benefit just as much as one about marketing or even loans. Why would tea being the subject matter? Well quite simply paid optimization could benefit any subject.

Another important element is to get a guarantee that the company you hire will not work with your competitors while they are working for you. Obviously, this would seriously compromise the effectiveness of the search engine optimization campaign. Be aware that some companies will use the success they achieve for your website to sell their services to your competitors. So get your guarantee in writing, and make sure it is legally binding.

Of course, one of the most important factors you want to check out is the company's track record of results. However, don't take the company's word for it. They will undoubtedly be slanting their results in order to sell their services to you. To go beyond their simple statement of success, ask them a few pertinent questions, and verify their answers.

Also, find out what keywords and phrases they are claiming great results with. It's easy to get high rankings with unpopular words. For instance, the keyword "cat leashes" will get high popularity ranking because no one else would think of using it. What you are looking for is good results using popular keywords. Check out the software Wordtracker, available at www.wordtracker.com. You can order a free trial, or a subscription ranging from 1 day to 1 year. This software rates the popularity of keywords and phrases based on actual search engine use.

Next, look for good results over an entire site that the company claims to have successfully worked for. You want to see a wide range of positions over a number of different search engines using different keywords or phrases for the entire site. Request a report for any client the company claims to have done well for. This report should show good positions on a number of the most popular search engines for a variety of different, popular keywords and phrases.

When you are checking out search engine optimization companies, make sure they have actually done the work they are claiming to have done. Some companies will use other company's results in order to get you to sign on with them. If you are in doubt, call the company they are showing you results for, and ask for the name of their search engine optimization company.

It's important to keep in mind that a successful search engine optimization campaign will result in maximum exposure across a wide range of popular search engines using a variety of keywords and phrases. This is the formula for a successful campaign, and you should keep it always in the forefront of your marketing strategy.

Ask the search engine optimization company you are considering for a report that shows you rankings across a number of popular search engines for a period of at least six months. Remember: search engine marketing is a process that is continual, and you need a company that not only understands this, but keeps constant tabs on your search engine positions. That company must also be able to adjust its strategy in the event that search engine rankings drop.

Since search engine marketing is an on-going process, your positions must be constantly monitored. If you want your search engine optimization company to do this for you, request a sample of a monthly report. It is essential that this report should show rankings for the most popular search engines. Don't be impressed by a report that only shows great results for a limited number of small search engines. These are fairly easy results to acquire. Also confirm that the popular search engine results they are showing you are indeed the popular search engines currently.

Be sure the sample report the company shows you is in a format that you can easily understand. For example, it could be in the form of a chart that covers a period of at least six months and presents data such as the top 50 positions broken down on a monthly basis or the top 5 pages each month. Then, ascertain that the company you are considering actually monitors these positions or pages every month, and that the sample report they show you includes findings and recommendations for the specific site. This insures that the company will actively monitor and make adjustments to their strategy on a continual basis rather than simply gather statistics on your positions. You need a company that is actively participant in your search engine marketing campaign, not just an information gatherer.

Obviously, your finances have to figure into your choice of company, but bear in mind that a search engine optimization company is crucial the success of your marketing campaign. It is not just a casual accessory. If you cannot afford a company that will do a thorough and reliable job for your website, you might consider waiting until you do have the finances in place.

If you have to find a company and can't wait for your finances to catch up, you may be able to find an affordable company that will also be able to supply quality, reliable work, such as a fairly new company. Just remember that there are risks involved with using a company without a proven track record - and that risk is your money! Don't take that leap unless the company can supply you with a least a few references.

References are the most reliable indicator of a good company. Don't use a company that won't show your references because of any reason, confidentiality included. Remember - even doctors will provide references! The firm you choose should provide you with a minimum of two references, one that is from the past, and one that is current.

When you contact these references, be prepared to ask precise, specific questions so that neither of your time is wasted. Ask them what their experience was like with the company, such as their availability to answer questions and deal with problems and their ability to meet deadlines. Ask the reference to rate the overall performance of the company.

The most essential question to ask is whether the work of the search engine optimization company resulted in higher profits for the reference. Without profits, it doesn't matter whether your positions are at the top of the list or not.

Well now you are armed with the relevant facts take the bull by the horns and your website about Tea, marketing or absolutely any kind of subject could end up with a totally new lease of life and your stats counter could start to rise like a thermometer in a heatwave.

Basic SEO Wisdom

This is a  story about a poor guy with an inept domain that wanted to build a site geared for a very competitive keyword and his long, agonizing journey toward the true light of SEO wisdom.

Here's a little foundation for what I'm about to cover here. A while back I bought a stupid domain name. It was one of those fairly useless domain names that might have been good for maybe selling cellphones or something. The thing is, though, I'm a poor guy. I don't have time to taylor a site for cellphones with the pitiful amount of money I have. This was my thinking not long ago at least.

After sitting on this domain name forever I decided to put a site up there and give myself to the study of SEO or search engine optimization. It seemed like an interesting subject and I knew to those that managed to learn SEO, marketing, and some web design would fall infinite riches. It really sounded good to me.

So I went for the throat so to speak. More precisely I picked out some search terms that I will probably never be able to get traffic for in my lifetime. Smart I know. This had the grand side effect of having the site sandboxed by Yahoo and Google until pigs flew.

Recently they  flew, however, and I've come out of the sandbox altogether and hit face to face with a few SEO surprises. I did manage to get a tiny trickle of traffic but not from the terms I tried to get it from. After trying to optimize those pages for the key terms I received traffic from I got more traffic. This of course started me down a long road of speculation and hair pulling.

After many a night of such I've come up with a few things that I believe will give anyone the power to eventually pull traffic off the net and covert it into a good decent living. I'll probably write an ebook and make millions one of these days.

Optimize by the page
Don't fall into the trap of focusing totally on building this far flung and far reaching site that will rule the world or make you millions instantly. Unless you have lots of money you're going to need to work for your traffic. Plan your site out carefully and make sure each page is a precision crafted piece of art.

I love serverside scripting and dynamic websites but I've come to realize there is a danger that people will overuse it. I know I have. If your site is dynamically generted, make sure every page isn't a total cookie cutter image of every other page. It's good to have the same navigation and same general layout but each page also needs to be special. Each page should have careful, proven SEO techniques applied to maybe a single key phrase.

Don't try to optimize one page for a handful of phrases. Just focus on one phrase. Do your keyword research and, whatever you do,  don't haul off and pick a key phrase with 2 billion wealthy competitors in Google.  Pick something that can be attained and can get you some traffic relatively fast. Select a phrase that is as specific as possible to your particlar niche and still gets a couple thousand or so searches per month from Yahoo.

Whatever you do, make sure that one web page has  good, solid, desirable content that is keyword rich and one of a kind. This will help make it special. At the same time your content  obviously needs to lead the customer toward your intented goal for monetizing your traffic.

Keep it simple
I've found to my dismay that building a complex web site with all the content management stuff and all the database thrills isn't exactly what really gets the attention of search engines. Weirdly enough this can be true for internet surfers too. A nice, clean layout with very accessible content and intuitive navigation will be recognized by both search engines and surfers alike. If you can figure that part out you've just pinned down about 90% of SEO in my opinion.

Engineer your site for your traffic
When you start getting search engine traffic to your site take a very close look at what they are searching for. I assume you have some kind of statistics program and can mostly see what search terms people are using to get to your site. When someone comes in on a keyword or phrase you haven't optimized for do a little research. Does the page they are coming to need touched up to include the search term or would this search term merit its own search engine optimized page to handle the traffic.

With every page you add you are gaining another potentially valuable piece of internet real estate. If you're doing your job right then eventaully each page should get its own traffic and you should begin to attain your goals. Patience and learning are the name of the SEO game.
